The Gear I Use as a Lifestyle & Family Photographer
One of the questions I’m asked most often is: “What kind of camera do you use?” While I always say that the heart of photography is vision and connection—not just equipment—I also believe in investing in the best tools to provide my clients with the highest quality images possible.
My Camera Gear: Canon Mirrorless Systems
I proudly shoot with Canon mirrorless cameras, which are known for their speed, accuracy, and incredible image quality. My two main camera bodies are:
Canon R8 – lightweight and versatile, perfect for capturing movement and candid family moments.
Canon R6 Mark II – fast, reliable, and excellent in low light, making it ideal for indoor sessions and evening golden hour shoots.
My preferred Canon Lenses are the EF 24-70mm (f/2.8), the RF 85mm (f/2) and the RF 35mm (f/1.8).
Paired with high-quality Canon RF lenses, these cameras allow me to capture crisp details, soft backgrounds, and true-to-life colors that bring your session to life.
My Photography Education
Beyond gear, I believe growth as a photographer comes from education and experience. I completed a Professional Photography Certificate, which gave me a strong foundation in both technical and creative aspects of the craft.
But learning doesn’t stop with a diploma—I continuously invest in photography classes, styled shoots, and mentorships. Each of these opportunities helps me refine my skills, stay inspired, and keep up with the latest techniques in the industry.
Why This Matters for You
When you book a session with me, you can feel confident that you’re not only working with someone who has professional-level gear, but also with a Virginia photographer who is committed to lifelong learning and growth. My goal is to combine reliable tools with creativity and personal connection so you can walk away with timeless images that truly reflect your story.
